A colleague recommended to me that I watch a video from TED.com about a 12 year old, Thomas Suarez, who was giving a talk at TED about how he got started in programming / developing apps for the iPhone. I showed it to my Year 11 classes and they loved it, so much so that they immediately started designing their own apps through sketches, story boards and specs for both iPhone and Android!
